What is AFEHC?
The Spanish Exporting Manufacturers Association for the Hospitality Industry (AFEHC) is a non-profit organization whose aim is to increase the international expansion of Spanish manufacturers of equipment for the hotel, restaurant and catering industry.
Recognized as a liaison of ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, AFEHC plays a key role in developing joint internationalization policies in the industry and taking action to help companies increase their exports.
The mission of the association, which has more than 70 members, is to encourage unity, dialogue and cooperation among exporting manufacturers in the industry.
AFEHC is also a member of the Spanish Federation of Hospitality and Catering Equipment Manufacturers (FELAC).
In 2011, AFEHC created Horeca Equipment from Spain, an umbrella brand for international promotion of the Spanish sector of equipment for the hotel, restaurant and catering industry.
The origins of AFEHC go back to 1971, when the Restaurant and Catering Equipment Export Service (SEEH) was created as part of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. In 1997, this service was discontinued and, in the following year, the Export Department was created as a part of FELAC. This grouped together the former SEEH companies with a clear focus on foreign promotion.
In 2000, the Export Department’s Executive Board created a new association that formed part of FELAC, but had its own legal personality and by-laws and was geared towards promoting exports of its member associations. The new association was called AFEHC.
